three-logosRecently, the GKV PR team collaborated with the Shenandoah Telecommunications Company (Shentel) to announce the company’s acquisition of nTelos Holdings Corporation (nTelos), a provider of wireless communications services in portions of Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

As part of the transaction, Shentel acquired all of nTelos’ stock and operations including wireless network assets, retail stores and retail subscribers for approximately $586 million. As one of the nation’s largest Sprint Wireless affiliates, Shentel also amended and expanded its relationship with Sprint, and upon closure, this transaction doubles Shentel’s wireless subscriber base to over 1,000,000.

Working closely with Shentel leadership, GKV formulated a strategic communications plan, including key messages for all internal and external stakeholders. Working with leadership teams at the Shentel, Sprint and nTelos headquarters, we coordinated the strategic dissemination of the news to media and other key audiences, including community leaders, ensuring confidentiality leading up to the acquisition announcement and consistency in Shentel’s message delivery.

GKV created a dedicated microsite with FAQs (www.welcometoshentel.com) that went live the day of the announcement, along with social posts across all of Shentel’s brand channels. We followed up with targeted pitching, securing 13 media interviews for Shentel executives and placements in more than 30 news outlets, including stories in all priority markets, CBS, ABC and NBC affiliates and the Associated Press.
